Biography

Emily Thompson has studied percussion in many forms, ranging from Jazz, Brazilian, and Klezmer music in Montréal to Cuban music in Havana. She has studied with such greats as world percussionist Tom Teasley in Washington, DC, Jazz drummer Joe LaBarbera in Washington, and tabla master Pandit Sharda Sahai in Montréal. Emily performed with several pop, jazz, and rock bands in Washington, DC, and Seattle, WA, including the award winning Shoreline College Jazz Ensemble and Moonstruck Jazz. In Montréal, she performed with Mado Lamotte and Lulu Hughes at the 2007 Just for Laughs Festival, and has played drums and percussion for productions of numerous Broadway musicals, including Sweet Charity at the Centaur Theatre and productions of Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre and Bialik High School Theatre Program. Emily is playing drums and percussion for the 2011 Hudson Music Club production of The Drowsy Chaperone.
